Overcome Excuses
And Get Back On Your Program
If you're someone who often finds that you're not getting the results you would like from your fitness program because it's one excuse after another, you really must look at what you can do to push past these excuses and stick with the program plan.
While some excuses may be valid and there really isn't any way to overcome them, for the most part, most of the excuses that we use on an everyday basis have a very simple solution that could be implemented that would then help to keep us right on track.
By having the back-up plan ready should an excuse or situation present itself, you'll know immediately what to do in order to keep yourself moving forward and not let that excuse set you back.
Here are the common excuses to know about and how you can overcome them.
Excuse #1: You Slept In
Solution
One of the most common reasons for forgoing a workout session when it's planned for right at the start of the morning is because you slept in.
While in some cases it may be a case of the alarm not going off or you forgetting to set it, more often than not it's a case of you pressing the snooze button one too many times.
If you have woken up late and don't have time to get to the gym, one thing that you should do is have a fast, home workout planned that you can do in as little as ten minutes.
If you can purchase a pair of dumbbells to keep in your home, you can target every single muscle group in one all-out set and complete a full body workout program in record time.
By investing just this ten minutes before you hop into the shower you'll get your metabolism going and know that you've already done something good for your body.
While it may not be quite as good as it would be going to the gym for your usual 45 minute workout, it's still something and that's always better than nothing.
Excuse #2: You Don't Have Groceries To Prepare A Healthy Meal
Solution
Another common excuse when it comes to the dietary side of things is that you don't have the groceries you need to prepare your healthy meal, thus your only option appears to be take-out.
In this situation, pre-planning is key. If you can stock up on a few key staples ahead of time and make sure that they are always in the pantry, fridge, or freezer, then this should never be a barrier.
While you may not necessarily be able to make the meal that you had scheduled on your diet plan, if you have these healthy staples around you can improvise and still come up with something that will allow you to stick with your diet plan.
Brown rice, barley, frozen vegetables, and frozen chicken breasts can be kept for months at a time so there is no reason never to have these around.
Excuse #3: You're Too Tired To Cook
Solution
Finally, our third excuse, another diet excuse, is that you simply don't have time to cook. There's no question that this one very well be valid, after all, we live in a world where almost every single one of us has a never ending to-do list to try and accomplish.
But still, this is no excuse not to stick with your diet.
To overcome this excuse, you should make an effort to make up a big batch of food on the weekend when you're less busy and place it in the freezer.
Then in times of need, you simply take it out to defrost and you'll have a meal in minutes. There are so many foods that can keep well frozen including stir-fries, soups, and stews, so this is a much healthier idea for your evening meal when rushed than ordering in Chinese food.
So if you're overcome with excuses, it's time for you to take control and look for ways to overcome them instead.
If you put a little creativity in it, you'll find that most excuses don't have to take you away from your program and are dealt with rather easily.
