Six Pack Abs Motivation
If you're looking to get six pack abs and have a program already laid out to help you achieve this goal, one thing that you'll want to think about is what you're going to do in order to keep yourself motivated.
There's no question that getting six pack abs does take a bit of time – if this was an easy goal to achieve we'd all be walking around with flat and firm stomachs. If you expect overnight results, you will lose motivation very quickly so the very first thing that you must be doing is making sure that you are maintaining reasonable expectation levels.
Once you've come to accept the fact that a high amount of work will have to be put in to get to the levels of body fat low enough to see the defined six pack, then it comes time to coming up with strategies that will help you stay the course.
Let's look at a few things that you should consider so you don't fall off the bandwagon.
Set A Few Different Goals
The very first thing that will be a must as you work towards getting six pack abs is to make sure that that's not the only goal you have set for yourself.
If the only reason you're going into the gym each day and the only reason why you're following your diet program is because you want a flat stomach, then if you don't see results right away you are going to become discouraged.
Instead, set a few goals that you'll work towards at the same time. Have the goal to get six pack abs but also try and obtain a performance related goal as well.
This could be running faster on the treadmill, lifting more weight on a few of your weight lifting exercises, or reducing down the total amount of rest taken during the workout by a certain amount.
By having these goals in place as well, you'll notice progress towards them as you work towards the goal to get six pack abs so if you aren't seeing absolutely amazing six pack ab progress at a point in the program, you're still seeing results in another aspect.
That can help you feel more productive overall, thus allow you to keep your motivation level on high.
Take Progress Pictures
Second, another smart move to make if you're looking to get six pack abs is to make sure that you take progress pictures.
In the beginning as you start shedding body fat you're going to notice dramatic changes in how your body looks and this process will happen rather quickly. Keeping your motivation at this time will likely not prove to be a problem.
But as you progress onwards and body fat burning starts to slow down, you may find that you aren't nearly as excited about the results you're getting.
Not to mention the fact that as you get leaner very small changes that do occur will be a little less noticeable, therefore even though you are in fact making progress, it could feel like you aren't.
To help overcome this, take some progress pictures. By having these to compare to over time, you'll see the larger changes that have taken place and thus be more motivated to keep striving to reach that goal.
Take a progress picture once every two weeks for best results.
Be Aware Of Water Weight Fluctuations
Another must-do as you strive for a six pack is to make sure you're aware of water weight fluctuations. It's perfectly normal and natural to see some water retention depending on what your diet is like, what your stress levels are, and what time of the month it is if you happen to be a woman.
Since water retention does have a significant impact on how well you can see your abs, by making sure you're well aware of this fact, you'll be less discouraged if you do happen to see this water retention taking place.
Before you get upset and think that you've just gained 2 pounds of body fat back, do a check to see if water retention may just be at play.
So there are the top things to remember about making sure you stay motivated as you strive for six pack ab success. Many people do set this goal yet very few are able to maintain motivation until the end.
If you implement these strategies, you can be one of the few who does in fact see success.
